The very scenic course is generally good under foot when ascending and has one very rough, bouldery descent on the third and final hill. Technically its not difficult, but the 2,500 foot of climbs are very hard work if you are not used to that kind of ascent with a distance longer than a half marathon.  Part of the ascent is a long section of stone slabs.

There is plenty of parking on field near start (be careful if you have low suspension).  This year the main hall was open and there were plenty of loos.  There was a good stall selling gels, shoes, watches etc.  En route there were two water stations (bottle at first and cup at second).  In 2007 the finish took a different route, down to the field car park and this was a nice finish.

Food available at end at very reasonable prices (cheese butties, fruit cake, coffee etc., 75p for cheese & pickle + cuppa).  Stylish T-shirts to those completing this and the other 2 races in the Goyt Valley series.

This was a superbly organised event on a stunning course.

Tip: wear low soled trail shoes (fell shoes not necessary or desirable in my opinion - only one rough descent).
